The indie rock ensemble Bad Valentines from Helsinki released their debut EP ‘Memory Tattoos’ which features four tracks characterized by their emotional depth and refined production complemented by memorable melodies. The band achieved the ideal blend of lively energy and meaningful lyrics while recording with Petri Majuri and Sammy Aaltonen. The EP features the earlier singles “Mariia” and “Last Days In The Sun” together with two new songs that expand their musical complexity. Every musical note throughout the album shows that the band clearly understands their identity and their message.

The EP starts with “Last Days In The Sun” which combines bright melodies and upbeat rhythms with lively guitars while its title brings an almost nostalgic quality. This track serves as a goodbye to something that once held beauty through its thoughtful lyrics and unforgettable rhythm. The following track “Summer Ends In June” presents a somber melody which perfectly expresses the fleeting nature of enjoyable moments. The melody moves smoothly while the vocals deliver an ideal balance of vulnerability and strength. The track delivers powerful emotion and creates a distinctive atmosphere.
The song “Mariia” creates an energetic burst through its sharp riffs alongside a memorable chorus. The song delivers a confident performance and urgent energy making it a definitive indie-rock anthem. “Carry Me Home” brings the album to a personal and emotional conclusion as it slows down the pace. The song creates a lasting impact through its musical composition and lyrical content. ‘Memory Tattoos’ demonstrates a strong debut performance which delivers full promise even though it is brief in length. Bad Valentines have begun their journey impressively and I’m thrilled to imagine their future direction.
